BERKELEY— The 18th Chinese Martial Arts Tournament at UC Berkeley was a splendid combination of old and new. New competitors joined martial arts veterans for another exciting day of Chinese forms and weapons.

ImageWith over 500 competitors entered and more than 1,500 events in a single day, UC Berkeley was overrun with some of the world’s best Chinese martial artists performances. Special guests from the world-renowned Beijing Wushu Team lit up the competition floor. Wu Di, world champion in men’s spear, performed his drunken straight sword form, complete with a 720 butterfly twist fall, wowing everyone who saw it.

Also in attendance was Alfred Hsing, world champion in men’s straight sword and Li Jing, former member of the Beijing Wushu Team and actress in the upcoming movie Avatar: The Last Airbender.
